Yes — passphrase backups use AES-256-GCM, an industry-standard authenticated cipher, and all encryption happens on your device. Your passphrase is never stored or sent anywhere: the encryption key is derived from it with scrypt, a deliberately slow, memory-hard function that makes brute-force guessing impractical. The key only exists while you enter your passphrase, so no one — not even us — can open the backup without it. Choose a strong passphrase and keep it safe; it cannot be recovered if lost.
